DON’T FORGET ABOUT A STANDARDAugust 13, 2009
Tanqueray wants to remind you the T&T is a classic for a reason
In this day of new cocktail recipes and revisiting ones from the 19th century, good old standards can sometimes get looked over. That’s why Tanqueray has put together need advertising and outreach to remind the public that the good ole T&T is a still a worthy choice. Their global brand ambassador Angus Winchester considers it a cocktail instead of a mixed drink, because of the layers of flavor and complexity.
Angus was in town this week, finishing up a US tour of spreading the T&T message and tasting bartenders twist on the standard. Their official recipe is:
T&T
1.25oz Tanqueray London Dry
4oz High-quality Tonic (Fever Tree, Fentiman’s, Q, etc)
lime wedge
Squeeze lime wedge into bottom of highball glass, fill glass 2/3rds with ice, add Tanqueray. Fill glass with tonic, stir, rim edge of glass with lime wedge.
Drop a piece of fresh lime in and enjoy!
Tanqueray has been challenging bartenders across the U.S. to create twists on the T&T. Here’s a couple of the recipes:
Spicy T&T
1oz Tanqueray London Dry
.5 oz fresh lime juice
ginger beer

fresh mint
Muddle 3 sprigs of mint in the bottom of a highball glass. Pull the essential oils up around the side of the glass. Add ice and Tanqueray. Fill with ginger beer, leaving room for a splash of tonic. Garnish with a mint sprig.
Muddled T&T
3 lime wedges
1.25 oz Tanqueray London Dry
tonic water
Muddle 3 lime wedges in the bottom of a highball glass. Add cracked ice and Tanqueray. Fill with tonic Enjoy!
