Because tomorrow (Feb 22) is National Margarita Day! So for your Sunday sip tomorrow choose something from the agave family, you won’t be alone seeing as how in 2008 the margarita was the most popular cocktail in the U.S. The Cuervo family claims the title of first margarita, using its Jose Cuervo Especial Gold. While silver and platinum tequilas are quite popular right now, I prefer an aged tequila because of the additional flavor and layers the aging process adds.
1 oz fresh lime
3/4 oz Cointreau
2oz Don Julio Reposada
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and shake with iced. Strain over cracked ice and garnish with lime wedge.
Margaritas can be made a variety of ways, so whether you like it up or on the rocks, agave syrup or sugar and so on-just don’t drink it out a machine!! Fresh ingredients make all the difference, so squeeze yourself a couple limes and enjoy the fruits of your labor when you taste that margarita!
